Now That Your Linen Piece Has Arrived
Or what to Know About Your Linen Piece

Your order has arrived, and we’re really glad it’s finally with you!

We know the best part is opening the package and trying everything on, so we put together this short guide to help with the practical things that are useful to know right away.

First unboxing and try-on

We always try to pack each item in a way that helps it arrive in the best possible condition, but linen is a natural fabric, and some wrinkling during transit is simply impossible to avoid.

At this stage, we recommend trying your piece on before doing anything else.

Please check how it feels in the key areas:

  • shoulders
  • chest
  • waist
  • hips
  • sleeve or trouser length, depending on the item

The main thing to notice is whether the garment feels comfortable overall and whether anything feels too tight or clearly off.

If something feels wrong in an important area, please contact us — we’ll be glad to help.

If the overall fit feels right, but the fabric looks a little stiff, holds shape in a slightly awkward way, or feels a bit crisp to the touch, that is normal at this stage. Linen relaxes after washing and becomes softer and more natural in wear — this is a natural part of how linen fabric behaves.

How to prepare it for everyday wear

Before regular wear, we recommend washing the garment first.

This helps the linen relax after shipping and lets the fabric settle into a more natural feel.

Please wash it separately from other items for the first wash.

A simple care routine:

  • wash gently in cool or lukewarm water
  • use mild detergent
  • do not use bleach
  • avoid high heat
  • let it air dry when possible

If you prefer a cleaner, smoother look, you can steam or iron it lightly while it is still slightly damp. If you like a more relaxed natural look, you can simply let it dry and wear it as it is.

After the first wash, the fabric usually feels softer and falls more naturally — this is why washing linen before wearing is often recommended.

What kind of fabric are you wearing?

Your piece is made from 100% linen.

Linen is breathable, comfortable, and easy to wear in everyday life. It allows air to circulate well, feels good on the body, and naturally softens over time — one of the key benefits of linen clothing.

It is also a fabric with its own character. Unlike very smooth synthetic materials, linen has a living texture and a more natural surface. Slight wrinkling, softness that develops with wear, and a less “perfect” finish are all part of what makes linen feel real and comfortable.

In short, it is a fabric that tends to look better and feel better the more you live in it.

About the color swatches included in your parcel

Linen color swatches included in package

We know it can be difficult to fully understand color through a screen.

That is why we included our color swatches in your package — so you can see our palette in real life, under your own lighting, and get a better feel for the shades we offer across our linen clothing collection.

Screens, phone settings, and lighting can all affect how color appears, so having the swatches on hand makes it much easier to understand the tones in a real, practical way.

If you ever decide to order again, they can also help you choose more confidently.

Good to know for the future

Future custom sizing with BlackFicus

The hardest part is already behind you — you now have your first BlackFicus piece in hand, and that makes everything easier from here.

Now we know how our garment fits you, and you know how our linen feels in real life. Because of that, it becomes much easier to choose size, fit, and even future styles with more confidence.

If you ever choose another item from us, we will already have something to work from.

If your order was made in a custom size, your measurements have been saved on our side.
That means any future order can be easier to discuss and easier to adjust if needed.

A quick wrap-up

We hope you enjoy wearing your piece and that it becomes a natural part of your wardrobe.
