Linen Fabric & Care Guide
Linen is one of the most beautiful and practical natural fabrics. Made from flax fibers, it is breathable, strong, and comfortable to wear in different seasons. Linen feels fresh in warm weather, absorbs moisture well, and allows the skin to breathe, which makes it a perfect choice for everyday clothing, travel, summer outfits, and relaxed homewear.
One of the special qualities of linen is that it becomes softer with time. With every wash and wear, the fabric develops a more natural texture and a lived-in feel while keeping its strength and character. Light wrinkles are also a natural part of linen’s beauty — they give the garment its relaxed, effortless look.
Why We Love Linen
Linen is a durable natural fiber with a clean, timeless appearance. It is lightweight but strong, breathable but structured, and comfortable for both warm days and layered outfits.
Because linen absorbs moisture and dries quickly, it helps you feel comfortable throughout the day. It is also a good choice for people who prefer natural fabrics close to the skin.
To keep your linen garment looking beautiful for a long time, proper care is important.
Washing Linen Clothes
Our linen garments can be washed by hand or in a washing machine.
For machine washing, use a gentle cycle at 30°C / 86°F. We recommend using a mild detergent and washing linen with similar colors. Avoid mixing linen with heavy items such as denim, towels, or garments with zippers, as they can create friction and affect the fabric surface.
Please do not use bleach or harsh detergents. They can weaken the fibers and damage the color.
For best results:
-
wash at 30°C / 86°F;
-
use a gentle cycle;
-
wash with similar colors;
-
do not bleach;
-
avoid overloading the washing machine;
-
turn darker garments inside out before washing.
Natural linen may shrink slightly after washing. This is normal for linen fabric. The usual shrinkage is around 3–5%, depending on washing and drying conditions.
Drying Linen Clothes
Air drying is the best option for linen.
After washing, gently shake out the garment and reshape it while it is still damp. You can hang it on a padded hanger or lay it flat on a drying rack. Avoid wringing linen by hand, as twisting can leave deep creases and affect the shape of the garment.
We do not recommend high-heat tumble drying. Heat can cause extra shrinkage and may shorten the life of the fabric. If you need to use a tumble dryer, choose a low-heat or delicate setting and remove the garment while it is still slightly damp.
For darker colors, avoid drying in strong direct sunlight for a long time, as it may cause fading.
Ironing Linen Clothes
Linen is easiest to iron when it is slightly damp.
Use the linen setting on your iron or a medium-high heat with steam. If the garment is already dry, spray it lightly with water before ironing. For darker colors, we recommend ironing from the inside to help protect the surface of the fabric.
You can also use a steamer if you prefer a softer, more relaxed look. Linen does not need to look perfectly flat — natural wrinkles are part of its charm.
Storing Linen Clothes
Make sure your linen garments are completely dry before storing them. Keep them in a clean, dry place with enough space for the fabric to breathe. Avoid plastic bags for long-term storage, as natural fibers need airflow.
With gentle care, your linen clothing will stay beautiful, comfortable, and long-lasting for years.
